The eavesdropper Eve, fully deployed and running, in the intercept-resend attack experiment

Left to right: optical part of the setup in suitcase, delay generator, signal generator (front; used for tuning but not during actual eavesdropping) and rubidium clock (back), Eve’s timestamp unit and computer.
The yellow fiber-optic cable from Alice enters at the left side of the picture, and the cable to Bob leaves at the right side.
In addition to this “quantum” part of the eavesdropping setup, all classical post-processing communication between Alice and Bob is recorded at a separate location.

This picture from Full eavesdropping on quantum cryptography gallery and Quantum hacking lab gallery is included in Picture Collection (ref. nr. a292-32) on Photo Pages.

Taken on July 5, 2009 at the National University of Singapore.
Fujichrome Sensia 100 film, Canon EOS-3, tripod. Scanned on Nikon LS-2000 scanner. Barrel lens distortion and vignetting corrected in Photoshop.
